About Hungry Hungry Snake

A snake that never stops, one compact field, and a food chain to eat your way up: seeds, worms, sparrows, mice, goats and elephants. Every bite makes you longer, and a longer snake has the mouth for the next rung up — but it is also more body to steer round, and your own body is the wall.

The animals are not waiting for you. They graze, wander and take fright as you close in, then run or freeze, and they route around rocks, ponds and your coils. Eat the elephant and the whole field speeds up and grows up around you: it is a milestone, not the end.

A hunt lasts at most two minutes. Only bites score, on a ladder that doubles every rung, and three kinds of bite multiply it: the biggest bite you can take, a bite close to your own body, and bites in quick succession. Or end it on purpose: take the tip of your own tail in your mouth and the score doubles.

How to play

1. Hold left or right to steer. You never stop; let go and you coast straight on.
2. Eat what fits inside your forward mouth. Your first meals are ringed in green; a coral ring always means too big.
3. Grow into bigger prey: worms at length 5, sparrows at 6, mice at 8, goats at 12, elephants at 17.
4. Don't touch your own body, a rock, a pond or anything still too big for you. The edges wrap around.
5. Score more with a Full Mouth, a Tight Bite and a Hungry Chain — or finish on your own tail for double.

Hold A or ← to turn left, D or → to turn right; let go to go straight. Esc pauses.

Hold the left or right half of the screen to turn that way; let go to go straight.
